2011-2015 Ford Explorer Remote Start DIY Installation Overview

• → Required: 2 Ford OEM keys or aftermarket OEM equivalent replacement keys are required for in-vehicle, system-to-vehicle programming. Cloned key replacements will not work. You must have 2 keys to the vehicle, each of which has been separately programmed to the vehicle (a.k.a. Ford PATS keys). Basically, the vehicle has to be put into Ford's "3rd Key Programming Mode" to install any aftermarket remote start system into a 2011-2015 Ford Explorer, and 2 keys to the vehicle are required to do this.
   
• 3 Plugs to Vehicle T-harness Installation: 2 plug-in connections behind the vehicle's ignition cylinder and 1 at the vehicle's OBD2 port. See example illustrations below.
   
• No OBD2 Port Blocking: You won't lose normal access to your vehicle's OBD2 port. No unplugging the remote start system every time the vehicle's OBD2 port is needed for vehicle service or additional accessories.
