2011 to 2014 Ford Edge Remote Start Features:

• Ford Remote Keyless Entry FOB Activation: You can activate this system in 1 of 2 ways, either by pressing the LOCK button 3 times on your OEM keyless entry remote (with horn beep) OR by pressing the LOCK/UNLOCK/LOCK sequence (without horn beep). Choice of activation preference provided during checkout. Settings cannot be changed after installation.
   
• Automatic Heat/Defrost/AC Activation: Just leave your climate control settings on where you need them when parking the vehicle, and the system will automatically turn them on after you activate the remote starter.
   
• 15-Minute Remote Start Run Time (standard): The system will automatically shut down after 15 minutes. Or if you like, you can choose a custom longer or shorter run time. Choices provided during checkout. Settings cannot be changed after installation.
   
• Active Key-Takeover: The engine will not shut down when the driver's door is opened. After you enter the vehicle and put a key into the ignition and turn the ignition on, when you step on the brake to shift into gear, the remote starter automatically turns off, but the vehicle will remain running normally with the key (so you won't have to restart the vehicle everytime after you remote start it.)
   
• Active Remote Shut-Down: You can shut down the remote starter sooner the same way you activated it.
   

Remote Start Security & Safety Features:

• Brake Pedal Monitoring for Security: The steering column remains locked, and if you step on the brake pedal before the ignition is turned on with a key, the remote starter will immediately shut down.
   
• Open-Hood Monitoring for Safety: The remote starter cannot be activated when the hood is open, and it would shut down if the hood was opened while the vehicle was running by the remote starter (the vehicle must be equipped with a factory-installed or aftermarket hood-pin switch for this feature to work).
   

2011 to 2014 Ford Edge Remote Start Installation Overview:

• All Plug-In Installation: No wire cutting or splicing. 3 T-harness connections to the vehicle are required to install this system into a 2011 to 2014 Ford Edge with key ignitions and remote keyless entry. 2 of the plugs are found behind the vehicle's ignition switch, which can be accessed by removing the surrounding bezel and reaching up behind the ignition cylinder or removing the ignition switch for easier access. And 1 plug to the vehicle's OBD2 connector (see example photos below.)
   
• No OBD2 Diagnostic Plug Blocking: This remote starter system setup uses a Y-connector, keeping your vehicle's OBD2 port accessible for any diagnostic service. No need to unplug the remote starter system every time the vehicle's OBD2 port is needed for service or additional aftermarket components. You just remove the vehicle's OBD2 plug and plug it into the T-harness, then replace the plug with the identical OBD2 connector from the harness (see example photos below.)

Ford Edge In-Vehicle 2 Key Programming:

• No manufacturer programmers, dealership programming, computers, or downloads are involved. These systems are not the generic platforms requiring vehicle-specific computer programming. These systems are pre-programmed vehicle-specific ready for the exact year of Ford Edge it is going to be installed into (you will be asked to indicate the year of your Ford Edge during ordering) and only require 2 keys for system-to-vehicle programming.
  
  2 KEY PROGRAMMING PRECAUTION: Cannot use "CLONED" keys for system programming: Cloned keys are replacement keys that did not require programming to your vehicle during purchase; all they did was "cut" the key; access to your vehicle was not required to make the new key. This restriction applies to any brand or model of remote starter system that requires 2 keys for programming.

Remote Start Upgrade Options: (sold separately):

• Not happy with the range that your factory remotes provide? Easily upgrade your system any time during or after installation with any of Fortin's EVO-4-Series or EVO-9-Series lines of long-range remote packages. Just plug the antenna into the system harness, then route and stick the antenna to the windshield, program the remotes to the system, and you're done. Depending on which remote package you choose, you can boost the system to get anywhere from 1300 to over 2000' of range.
   
• Lights On While Running: This system has the ability to turn the vehicle's parking lights on while the vehicle is running by the remote starter (for vehicle's without autolights.) Please note that this option will require some quick-connect T-tap connections to wires in the vehicle, which are included with the additional parking lights relay add-on upgrade (part # PLR4.)
   
• Open Hood Pin-Switch: For vehicles not equipped with factory-installed hood pin switches, an optional aftermarket pin switch can be installed for extra safety that would inhibit the vehicle from being remote started while the vehicle's hood is open and shut it down immediately if the vehicle was running by the remote starter. Please note that this option would require running a wire from under the driver's dash through the firewall to out under the hood (part # HPS1.)
   
• Remote Start Inhibit On-Off Toggle Switch: A small mini toggle switch that's mounted under the driver's side dash through a pre-drilled 1/4" hole that when placed in the ON position, will prevent the vehicle from being remote started (part # TS1.)
