2017-2019 Ford Escape Remote Start Features

• Ford Remote Keyless Entry Activation: You can activate this system in only 1 of 2 ways, either by pressing the LOCK button 3 times on your keyless entry remote (with horn beep) OR by pressing the LOCK/UNLOCK/LOCK sequence (without horn beep).
  
  ► Choice of activation preference provided during checkout. Settings cannot be changed after installation.
   
• 15-Minute Remote Start Run Time (standard): The system will automatically shut down after 15 minutes.
  
  ► Or if you like, you can choose a custom longer or shorter run time. Choices provided during checkout. Settings cannot be changed after installation.
   
• Active Key-Takeover: The engine will not shut down as soon as the driver's door is opened. After you enter the vehicle and put a key into the ignition and turn the ignition on, when you step on the brake to shift into gear, the remote starter automatically turns off, but the vehicle will remain running normally with the key (so you won't have to restart the vehicle everytime after you remote start it.)
   
• Active Remote Shut-Down: You can shut down the remote starter sooner the same way you activated it.
   
• Automatic HEAT/AC Activation: Just leave your climate control settings on where you want them when parking the vehicle, and the system will automatically turn them on when you activate the remote starter.

Remote Start Safety & Security Features

• Brake Pedal Monitoring for Security: The steering column remains locked, and if you step on the brake pedal before the ignition is turned on with a key, the remote starter will immediately shut down.
   
• Open-Hood Monitoring for Safety: The remote starter cannot be activated when the hood is open, and it would shut down if the hood were opened when the vehicle was running by the remote starter (the vehicle must be equipped with a factory-installed or aftermarket hood-pin switch for this feature to work).

Ford Escape DiY Remote Start Installation Overview

• All Plug-In Installation: No wire cutting or splicing. 3 T-harness connections to your vehicle are required to install this system into a 2017 to 2019 Ford Escape with key ignitions. You just swap out the plugs from the vehicle with the plugs from the T-harness. 2 of the plugs are found on the left and right sides of the steering column under the steering column covers, and 1 is to the lower left behind the access panel at the vehicle's OBD2 connector.
   
• No OBD2 Diagnostic Plug Interference: No plugging straight into your OBD2 diagnostic port; this design uses a Y-connector, keeping your vehicle's OBD2 port accessible for any diagnostic service.
  
  No need to unplug the remote starter system every time you need to use the vehicle's OBD2 port. You just push in the locking clips on each side of your vehicle's OBD2 plug and push the plug out so it drops down so you can plug it into the T-harness, then replace the plug by pushing in the OBD2 replacement plug from the T-harness.

In-Vehicle 2-Key Programming

• No special programmers or downloads involved. Just 2 keys to your vehicle are all that's required to program this system to your vehicle.
  
  2 KEY PROGRAMMING PRECAUTION: Cannot use "CLONED" keys for system programming: Cloned keys are replacement keys that did not require programming to your vehicle during purchase; all they did was "cut" the key. Access to your vehicle was not required to make the new key work (what they did was take the key they were cutting for you and duplicated ("cloned") the key's anti-theft code into your new key.) So you end up with 2 keys with the same anti-theft codes. This restriction applies to any brand or model of remote starter system that requires 2 keys for programming.
  
  As long as you have 2 keys that have been separately programmed to your vehicle, original keys or replacements, they will work.
   
• Vehicle-Specific Factory Fit T-Harness: No wires or extra plugs to sort through that are left over and not used, meant for other Ford vehicles. This provides an easier-to-understand installation and a cleaner, more professional-looking install when finished.
